DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE
I'm not really wasting my time, or yours, on this thing anymore, but I need to get one quick thing out.
Don't believe any negative you hear abou the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album. This is their most solid work in 15 years since BloodSugarSexMagik.
Make no bones about it, this is a John Frusciante album more than anything. The music, all of it, bass, drums and guitar are amazing. Kiedes' words get tiring at times just like any singers, but this is the best double-album I've ever listened to in that it is solid all the way through with no filler.
Key track, and the best RHCP song that I think has ever been recorded, is on the second album, Mars, and is called Readymade. It's more straight up rock&roll, in the vein of Clutch, than anything they've done to date. The album definitely does have key moments of funk as well.
I don't think most writers/reviewers/critics have the ability to be able to listen to a double-album repeatedly and then talk sense about it. I can't believe that anyone would write negatively about this album.
RHCP is probably the only band that's been around over 20 years that still makes great music that is so obviously from the heart.
GET IT.
